
The Representative List of Treasures of the Material Cultural Heritage of the World
In 2007, the International Bureau of Cultural Capitals started its election and promotion campaigns for the Treasures of the material or tangible Cultural Heritage of the World, with the intention of expanding awareness of this heritage in a didactic, educational, entertaining and, at the same time, encouraging visits to the proposed and elected sites, as well as set up new tourist routes that allow visitors to get acquainted with the rich heritage of the world in a synthetic way.
The choice of the treasures has always been done with the proposals contributed by the citizens. Subsequently, the nominations have been put to vote. The top rated seven items have become Treasures of Cultural Heritage and have joined the list.
The Representative List of the Treasures of the Material or Tangible Cultural Heritage of the World conducted by the International Bureau of Cultural Capitals currently includes the following cities or geographic areas:
