The International Bureau of Cultural Capital has established The Representative List of the World Sport Heritage of Humanity .

The Representative List of the World Sport Heritage of Humanity has as aims promoting the consolidation of the importance of preserving of the sports reality around the world. Individuals, clubs or sports federations who wish to incorporate representative elements into this List should get in touch with the Bureau (info@ibocc.org).

Sports are one of the actors in the collective life that have more impact and influence on the society of the XXI century up to converting themselves into a transversal element that is equally of interest to the entire population pyramid and to all social segments.

The penetration of sports as a society cohesion means began in the modern era with the return of the Olympic Games in 1896, and during the twentieth century, consolidated with the establishment of international federations of all sports that currently exist in the world.

The practice of sports, sport competition and high-level professionalization have now taken sports to a first social ambit, being treated in the same equality conditions with politics, economy, etc.

Unlike other elements already established worldwide, the evolution and social presence of sports have been very fast and this has resulted in the fact that they still have no initiatives of global recognition that could position them in the social status they deserve.

It’s for these circumstances that the International Bureau of Cultural Capitals created The Representative List of the World Sport Heritage of Humanity, an instrument of public recognition of the importance of sport in society, taking into account that to date there has been no similar initiative.
